In His presence there is fulness of Joy

William Harvey (1852 – 30 April 1920)

William was born in Carrickfergus, Antrim and had a military career. He married Sarah c.1899 and in 1901 they were living  at Old Court Hall, Godmanchester. He worked as a ticker writer and assurance agent before moving to live at 49 Ross Street (1911). In 1911 he was documented as being an army pensioner, and insurance agent for the Wesleyan and General Assurance Office’. He died at home aged 67 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery 4 May 1920.

The Cambridge Daily News printed a short obituary which read that he ‘was wellknown in the town as a Christian worker. For over 30 years he had been active in evangelistic work, and he and his wife had taken many services in the villages round Cambridge. Until recently when his health failed he had taken part in open-air serices in the neighbourhood of Newmarket Road. Up to a few weeks ago Mr. Harvey had acted as supplementary porter at Peterhouse and his familiar figure will be greatly missed’.

Sarah Harvey (1853 – 26 December 1921)

Very little is known of Sarah’s early life. She was born in Anglesey and died at Ross Street on Boxing Day 1921.
