Monument

This fallen headstone lies 3 or 4 rows east of the central path and roughly 15 metres from the south path, in the parish of Holy Trinity. It lies under a tree surrounded by violets. The stone broke across the top third when it fell and the carved inscription has eroded badly.

Mary Hatton (née Guymer)  (1796 – 25 April 1862)

Mary was born in Great Thurlow, on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border and was the daughter of Robert and Susan (née Raison). She married John Hatton on 4 May 1821 in Great Thurlow and they had at least one daughter: Sarah (1834-1869). They lived at King Street, John worked as a bricklayer and Mary as a midwife. Mary died at home aged 65 years old.

John Hatton (1791 – 22 October 1863)

John was born in Milton, Cambridge and died at King Street aged 72 years old. His funeral took place on 26 October 1863.

Their daughter Sarah married Alfred Frohock she died aged only 37 and may have been buried here.
