“All my work is ended joyfully I come”
John Holland (c.1847 – 25 August 1909)
John was a general dealer who had a store at 37 Market Hill. He married Catherine and they had at least one son. He was a lay preacher on the local Methodist circuit and died aged 62 years old.
His funeral took place on 30 August at the Primitive Methodist Chapel at 58 Sturton Street, before internment at Mill Road Cemetery. His coffin was engraved ‘John Holland, died August 25th 1909, Aged 62 years’ so it is not known why his grave monument was carved with a different age.
