Sarah Middleton Hoppett (1835 – 6 April 1861)
Sarah was the only daughter of John and Sophia Hoppett. She was baptised on 10 April 1836 at St. Michael’s Church and died at the family home at Gifford Place, Green Street.
John Hoppett (1801 – 10 February 1868)
John was born in Trumpington and married Sophia Pointon in 1826 at St. Mary the Less Church. John worked as a college servant and Sophia as a college bedmaker. They had at least five children: Charles (1828-1905), John Scott (1828-1907), Isaac (1834-1876), Sarah Middleton (1835-1861) and George (1838-1887). The family lived at Gifford Place, 13 Green Street, and he died there aged 67 years old.
Sophia Hoppett (née Pointon) (1800 – 11 April 1888)
Sophia was born in Welyn, Hertfordshire and was the daughter of Richard and Sarah (née Jeeves) Pointon. After she was widowed she went to live at 70 Jesus Lane (1871/1881) with lodger Mary Dawon and a domestic servant. She died at 42 Park Street aged 88 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 16 April.
John and Sophia’s grandson Arthur Middleton Hoppett is also buried at Mill Road Cemetery.
