This shield within broken kerb stones is located in the parish area of St Paul’s 17 rows from the Mackenzie road entrance and 1 row to the south of the south path. Sadly most of the metal letters on the shield are now missing and the burial and grave records were used to complete the inscription.

Mary Humphrey (1836 -1920)
Mary was born in the village of Isleham, north of Ely in the Fens. In 1911 she was living at 9 Russell Street, where she was housekeeper for widower George Hall and his 22 year old daughter Maud. She was noted on the census as being married, but when she died at 9 Russell Street in November 1920 was described as a widow.
