Frederick Thomas Jackson (1841 – 17 December 1876)

Frederick was the son of Thomas and Sarah Ann (née Matthews) and his father died before his 10th birthday.  He grew up at Malcolm Street where his mother ran a Lodging House and married Catherine Titchmarsh on 19 August 1861 in Meldreth,  They had at least five children: Thomas Charles (1861-), Catherine Emily (1862-1921), Sarah Ann (Nancie) (1867-1915), Frederick Titchmarsh (1869-1932) and Charles Joseph (1871-1884).

Frederick ran a ‘tea, coffee and provision warehouse’ from 15 Petty Cury called Jackson & Titchmarsh, presumably in partnership with a member of Catherine’s family.  He died at Corn Exchange Street aged 35 years old.

Catherine Jackson (née Titchmarsh)  (1840 – 17 June  1910)

Catherine was the daughter of farmer Charles and his wife Catherine and was born in Wimpole.  In 1851 her father was farming  176 acres and employing 11 labourers. In 1861 Catherine was living in Orwell and working as a draper’s apprentice before marrying  Frederick  when she was 21.

After she was widowed she went to live at 53 Park Street (1881) and worked as a college servant, before eventually moving to 28 Malcolm Street where she ran a Lodging House with daughter Catherine (1891/1901). Catherine’s mother in law Sarah had been running the Lodging House at 28 Malcolm Street until her death in the summer of 1881, so it is thought that Catherine took it over then. Mother and daughter then went to run a Lodging House at 8 Kings Parade (1905 onwards) and it is believed that Catherine died at Kings Parade aged 69 years old.

Catherine Emily Jackson (1862 – 26 February 1921)

Catherine was baptised at St Andrew the Great Church on 21 September 1862 and never married.  She ran the Lodging House at Kings Parade after her mother’s death and died aged 58.
