Isabella Jiggins (née Watson) (c.1827 – 7 March 1905)
Isabella was the daughter of Massey Ann Waton (1788-1861) and married Thomas Jiggins in 1847. The couple are not documented as living together on any census record – in 1851 and 1861 Isabella was recorded as married, and by 1871 she was a widow, Thomas and Isabella had at least two sons: John Thomas (1848-1931) and Robert Herbert (1849-1937). She lived with her mother and sons at 5 Malcolm Place (1851/1861) and worked as a dressmaker (1861) and then as a college bedmaker (1861). After her mother’s death Isabella moved to live at 12 Willow Walk with son Robert who was a college gyp (1881/1891). Isabella had retired by 1901 and lived at Willow Walk with servant Lucy Mills. She died at home aged 78 years old.
John Thomas Jiggins (1848 – 30 May 1931)
John was baptised on 9 February 1848 and aged 22 (1871) was living at Trinity College where he was a clerk to the college. He married Emily Sarah Cash (1859-1941) in 1880 and they had four children: Edith Evelyn (1882-), Daisy Ethel Marie (1883-1974), Cecil Ernest (1885-1936) and Ida Gladys (1887-). In 1881 the couple were living with Emily’s mother Frances Cash, who ran the Carlton pub on Regent Street and by then John was bulter at Jesus College. The family later moved to 60 Rhadegund Buildings, Jesus Lane (1891) and then 133 Chesterton Road (at least 1901 onwards). He died at the Grove Nursing Home, Chesterton Road and was buried with his mother on 3 June 1931.
