Jane Joseph (1783 – 13 February 1863)

Jane was born in Manchester and was a widow named Jane Vincent when she married George Francis Joseph (1764-1846) at St Andrew the Great Church on 22 September 1835.

George was a well known portrait painter, and the couple retired to live in Cambridge. Jane was widowed for a  second time when George died in September 1846. In 1861 she was living at Regent Street with her niece Ellen. Jane died at home aged 80 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 18 February 1863.

Mary Vincent (1779 – 27 July 1855)

Mary was born in Scotland, and was possibly the sister of Jane Joseph’s first husband.  In 1851 she was living at Downing Terrace, Cambridge with two servants and was documented as being a fundholder. She died at home and her funeral took place on 31 July. Her death was announced in the Cambridge Indepenent Press and read ‘..at an advanced age, Mary Vincent, greatly esteemed by a large circle of friends’.
