Mary Ann King (1860 – 15 February 1928)
Mary was born in Charlton Mackrell, three miles east of Somerton in Somerset and was baptised there on 29 July 1860 . She was the eldest daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth King and her father was a plumber/glazier. She had left home by 1881 and it is believed she worked as a domestic servant for some years before moving to Cambridge to live with her younger sister Emma (by at least 1901).
Emma King had married butler Albert John Hammond and they had two daughters. They moved to Cambridge c.1900 and ran a Lodging House at 19a Market Hill (1901/1911). Mary lived with the family and assisted in the business. By 1915 she was living 15b Malcolm Street, where she might have been running her own Lodging House . Mary King died at Addenbrookes Hospital aged 67 years old.
