(William) Mitchell Langley (1874 – 25 June 1938)
Mitchell was born in Chesterton and baptised there on 1 March 1874. He was the son of labourer William Langley (1840-) and Ann (née Taylor) (1842-1876). His mother died when he was an infant and he was raised by Edward and Eliza Isola, who lived on Chesterton High Street (1881). In 1891 he was living at 5 Rose Crescent and working as a porter for dairyman Frank Audley Arnold.
Mitchell married Annie Elizabeth Hogg (1877-1958) on 31 March 1902 at St. Michael’s and All Angels’ Church, Caldecote and they had two daughters: Grace Winifred (1903-1983) and Doris Evelyn (1905-1994). The family lived at Ross Street (1904-1907), 283 Mill Road (1908 -1919), 33 Thoday Street (1920- 1929) and 42-44 King Street (1930 onwards). In 1911 he was documented as a ‘dairyman’s assistant’ and died at King Street aged 64 years old.
