Ann Layton (formerly Galer) (1786 – 16 January 1864)
Ann was born in Dry Drayton and married Robert Galer. The couple had at least four children: Alfred (1826-1894), Caroline (1828-), Ann (1832-) and Emma (1833-). They lived in Barnwell and Robert sold milk, as well as renting and operating a toll at Paper Mills, Turnpike Road. She was widowed in 1832 and then married widower William Layton on 25 September 1837 at St. Clement’s Church. William was a carpenter and Ann worked as a college bedmaker and they lived at the Granby Inn Yard on Bridge Street (1841) and 55 Rhadegund Buildings, Jesus Lane (1861). Ann died at home aged 78 years old and her funeral was held on 25 January.
William Layton (c.1792 – 15 January 1868)
William was born in Norfolk and had at least two children from his first marriage; Hannah (1821-) and William (1826-). He died at Rhadegund Buildings aged 77 years old.
