Alfred Christopher Lister (c.1889 – 1 January 1928)
Alfred was the son of George and Frances Emily (née Pratt). His father was a steam engine fitter and he grew up at 4 Abbey Road. By the age of 22 (1911) Alfred was also working as an engine fitter. He served as a Private with the Royal Army Service Corps in the 1st World War and then married Maud Lines in Luton in 1922. The couple lived at 34 Abbey Road and are not believed to have had any children. Alfred died at home aged 39 years old.
Henry Hart Pratt, the infant brother of Frances Pratt is also buried at Mill Road Cemetery
Maud Kate Lister (née Lines) (12 July 1894 – 29 April 1975)
Maud was born in Farningham, Kent and was the daughter of James and Emily Lines. She grew up in Luton from at least the age of 7 (1901) and in 1911 was working as a draper’s assistant for Luton company E. Strang and Sons. She married Alfred Lister when she was 27 years old.
After being widowed she went to lodge at 6 Kimberley Road with her elder sister Elizabeth. On the records of 1939 both were marked as being housekeepers seeking employment. From 1945 onwards she lived at 20 Montague Road and died there aged 80 years old.
