Harriett Elizabeth Mansfield Lucas (née Mansfield) (1869 – 13 December 1929)
Harriett was born Harriett Mansfield, but was living with Samuel and Susan Westwood from at least 1871 onwards, and appears to have taken their name/been adopted by the couple. Samuel was a general labourer and she grew up at 16 Occupation Road (1881). She married Arthur Lucas in 1888 and they had ten children: Sidney Arthur (Arthur) (1889-1944), Mary Ann (1891-), Samuel James (1893-1914), Frederick (1885-), Dora Beattie (1897-1978), Charles William (1899-1918), Arthur John (1901-1922), Lily Rose (1904-1996), Harry Stanley (1906-1989) and William (1908-1927). Arthur Lucas worked as a bricklayer’s labourer and the family lived at 74 New Street. Harriett died aged 60 years old.
Arthur John Lucas (15 November 1866 – 15 March 1943)
Arthur was baptised at St. Paul’s Church on 7 December 1867 and was the son of Obadiah and Caroline (née Whitby). Obadiah was a labourer and later worked as a pedlar and Arthur grew up at Cambridge Place. In 1939 he was living at 74 New Street with George Lucas, who is believed to be a grandson and was still working as a general labourer.
