In 1881 Elizabeth was working as a housemaid at Brook House, Long Melford and later worked as a parlourmaid at Queen Anne Villa, Epsom (1891). In 1901 she was living with Margaret Matthews at 18 Grove Lane, Kingston upon Thames. In 1911 the two women were living with Elizabeth’s mother Mary Underwood in Woolpit, Suffolk and they then moved to live in Cambridge.
