Elizabeth Julia Underwood (1851 – 26 July  1935)

Elizabeth was born in Sudbury, Suffolk and baptised on 5 June 1853 at St. Mary the Virgin Church, Great Ilford, Essex. She was the daughter of  George and Mary Underwood and her father was a farrier/smith.  She grew up in Lee, Kent (1861), Sudbury (1871) and worked as a domestic servant.  In 1881  Elizabeth was working as a housemaid at Brook House, Long Melford and later worked as a parlourmaid at Queen Anne Villa, Epsom (1891). In 1901 she was living with Margaret Matthews at 18 Grove Lane, Kingston upon Thames. In 1911 the two women were living with Elizabeth’s mother Mary Underwood in Woolpit, Suffolk and they then moved to live in Cambridge.  Elizabeth died at 64 Tenison Road and her funeral took place on 30 July 1935.
