Monument

This set of kerbstones with rectangular flower holder, located in the parish of Holy Trinity, lie a few metres north and about 70 metres along the south path from the central path. The inscription is undamaged. 1 row to the east is the headstone of Frederick’s parents. They are both hidden in deep vegetation.

Frederick William Moore (1890 – June 1937)
Frederick was the eldest son of painter Harry Edward Moore and Mary Ann. He was born in Oakington but grew up at 78 Sedgwick Street. Frederick worked for Great Eastern Railway as a railway porter and in 1911 was lodging at 28 Station Road, Whittlesford with widow Jane Aveling. He married Agnes Whitby in 1915 and they lived at 31 Madras Road. He died at home and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 3 June 1937.
Agnes Moore (née Whitby) (7 March 1892 – 22 September 1968)
Agnes was born in Hackney and grew up at 74 Mayfield Road with her parents Henry and Elizabeth and four sisters. Henry Whitby was a carpenter and aged 19 Agnes was working as a scullery maid for merchant banker Herbert Gibbs at 8 Portman Square. She married Frederick Moore when she was 23 years old and continued to live at 31 Madras Road after his death. In 1939 she was working at the County Boys’ School as a cook/housekeeper. Agnes died at Madras Road ageed 76 years old.
