Monument
This cross on a triple plinth stands 2 rows east of the central path in the parish area of Mary the Great. Although still standing the cross is liable to be hidden by ivy and a large ground creeping plant. The kerbstones are broken. Some of the inscription is now hidden under leaf litter.

George Thomas Morley (1854 – 10 October 1903)
George was born in Chatham, Kent and was the son of Robert and Martha Morley. His father was a wine merchant/publican and he grew up at the Eagle, 111 Norfolk Street in King’s Lynn (1861) and then the Shepherd’s House in Norwich (1871). By the age of 16 George was working as apprentice to his father and then moved to run a business at 1 Petty Cury. In 1881 he was living at Petty Cury with his sister Emily who was acting as his housekeeper and then married Ellen Lawrence on 12 June 1882 at Great Shelford. The couple had four children: Harold George (1883-1884), Edith Ellen (1894-1944), Reginald Arthur (1886-1964) and Edgar Lawrence (1897-1966). The family lived at Petty Cury but by at least 1897 George had retired and appointed Alfred Grant to manage the business. They moved to live at Ilfield (1901 and George died in Wallingford aged 49 years old. He was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 15 October.
Ellen Rebecca Mitchell (née Lawrence) (15 July 1861 – 22 June 1944)
Ellen was born in Cambridge and baptised on 22 September 1861 at St. Andrew the Great Church. She wa the daughter of butcher Frederick Calver Lawrence (1837-1896) and Elizabeth (née Buck) and grew up at 37 Market Hill. She married George Morley just before her 21st birthday and married for a second time in 1912 to Ernest William Stanley Mitchell (1884-). In 1939 she was recorded as being incapacitated and was living at 45 Eltisley Avenue with daughter Edith. Ellen was marked as being married, but it is not known where Ernest was living at this time. Ellen died in Cambridge aged 82 years old.
Harold George Morley (28 April 1883 – 24 January 1884)
Harold was the eldest son of George & Ellen. He died at 1 Petty Cury and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 31 January 1884.
Edith Ellen Morley (8 December 1884 – 30 November 1944)
Ellen was the only daughter of George and Ellen Morley and in 1911 was documented as being a ‘teacher of health excercises’. In 1939 she was living with her mother at Eltisley Avenue and died aged 59 years old.
