Florence Newell (née Webb) (1867 – 28 October 1913)
Florence was the eldest daughter of James and Ellen (née Layton) and grew up at 22 Union Road (1871) and 13 Russell Street (1881). She married George Newell (1866-1942) on 9 August 1888 at the Hills Road Wesleyan Chapel. George worked for Great Eastern Railway as a station master and they lived at 12 Russell Street (next door to her parents and siblings) (1891), Great Chesterford Station (1901) and then Histon Station (1911). Announcements of her death simply read ‘Newell – 28th October, at Cambridge, Florence Newell, aged 46 years’.
George Newell went to live in St. Ives and died at the County Hospital in Huntingdon in April 1942.
