Wiliam Osborn (1862 – 18 April 1915)

William was born in Arrington, Cambridgeshire and was the son of John and Lydia (née Rayment). In 1881 he was living on the High Street in Barrington and was a grocer’s apprentice to Eliot Prime. William married Martha Charter in Watofrd on 12 July 1885 and they had seven children: Sydney William (1886-), Frances May (1888-1974), Herbert Charter (1896-1980), Eleanor Violet (1900-1960) and three more children who died as infants. They lived at 18 Ainsworth Street and William worked as a grocer/greengrocer (1891/1901). In 1911 the family were living at 24 Sleaford Street, where he died aged 53 years old.

Martha Elizabeth Osborn (née Charter)  (27 May 1862 – 9 February 1945)

Martha was also born in Arrington and was baptised there on 3 August 1862. She grew up in the village with her  parents Charles and Ellen, and Charles worked as a ‘post messenger’/postman. Before marrying William Osborn she was a housemaid  in Paddington for Rev. Edward and Emily Bewick. In 1939 she was living at 180 Coldham’s Lane with  widowed daughter Frances Martin and died there aged 82 years old.
