George Osborne (20 February 1871 – 11 November 1944)
George was born in Haslingfield and grew up in the nearby village of Barton. He married Elizabeth Barker in 1896 and they had five children: Georgina Elizabeth Barker (1896-), Frederick George (1899-1985), Winifred Alice (1902-), Robert George (1908-1990) and one further child who died as an infant. In 1901 the family were living at 35 Willow Place and George was working as a groom/cab (carriage) driver. In 1911 they were living at 4 Garden Cottages, Willow Place. In 1939 George and Elizabeth were at 6 Trinity Place with their youngest daughter Alice who was blind, and George was working as a caretaker. He died at Trinity Place aged 73 years old.
Elizabeth Jane Osborne (née Barker) (22 July 1877 – 8 March 1952)
Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of groom/fly driver Robert and Lydia (née Dodson) and grew up at 73a Burleigh Street. She married George Osborne when she was 19 years old and continued to live at 6 Trinity Place after his death. Probate records show she died at ‘the County Road, March’, so was perhaps killed in an accident.
