This headstone is one of a pair that stand south of the path, close to the lodge.
Inscription
To the Memory of SARAH second daughter of WILLIAM and FRANCES PATMAN died Sep. 25. 1850. in the 21st year of her age.
Also MARTHA their younger daughter died July 23 1854 aged 20
And of FRANCES ANN their third daughter died Sept 1853 aged 21
Sarah Patman (1828 – 25 September 1850)
Sarah was the daughter of William and Frances and grew up on Petty Cury, where her father ran the Wresters’ Inn for many years. She was baptised at St. Andrew the Great on 25 December 1828. She died at 8 Annesley Place and although the inscription reads she was 20 years old, she is believed to have been 21 years old.
Martha Patman (1834 – 23 July 1854)
Martha was baptised at St. Andrew the Great Church on 20 April 1834. In 1851 she was living at 8 Annesley Place, but died in Linton aged 20 years.
Frances Ann Patman (1832 – September 1853)
Frances was baptised at St. Andrew the Great Church on 22 April 1832. She died aged 21 years old.
Lucy Sarah Patman (1806 – 1875) According to the grave register Lucy was also buried here.
Lucy was born in the parish of St James, Clerkenwell, Middlesex. We know nothing of her early life.
In the 1841 census she was with her uncle William Patman and his family in Petty Cury with them at Annesley Place in 1851, and agin in 1861 where she was listed as housekeeper.
She died at her home in Panton St aged 69 and was buried on February 9th 1875 aged 69. The house and contents were sold at auction on March 27th.
