Esther Rash (née Hall) (1841 – 4 March 1924)

Esther was born in Horseheath, a village between Linton and Haverhill and is believed to have been the daughter of John and Elizabeth.  She married widower Thomas Rash c.1861 and in 1861 the couple were living at Bull Lane in West Wratting with Thomas’ son  George William Rash (1855-1906).  Thomas worked as an agricultural labourer and they stayed living in West Wratting until at least 1881.  By 1901 the couple had moved to live at 49 Bradmore Street and Thomas was working as a gardener.  In 1911 Thomas was recorded as an old aged pensioner and unable to work.  Esther died at Bradmore Street aged 82 years old and her funeral took place on 10 March.

Thomas Rash (1833 – 3 March 1925)

Thomas was the son of Richard and Elizabeth (née Stubbings) and was born in West Wratting, where his father worked as an agricultural labourer. He is believed to have married Eliza Newman in  1854, and they had at least one son: George before Eliza died in 1860. He married for a second time the following year to Esther Hall and died at Bradmore Street aged 92 years old.
