Sarah Bailey (née Turner) (c 1800 – 1889)
Sarah was born in Stapleford, just outside Cambridge. She married George Bailey in Cambridge in 1839. George was a gardener born in Albridge, Norfolk. The couple lived in Russell Street, Cambridge. They had three children: William Samuel (b 1845), Joseph Turner (b 1847) and Alfred (1852-1853). Alfred died in 1853 aged 2 years. George died in Russell Street in June 1871 aged 72. He was buried in the parish of St Paul, Mill Road Cemetery under the surname Bayley. No headstone has been found. When Sarah died she was living in Kingston Street, Cambridge.
Susan Bailey (née Brocket) (25 Aug 1866 – 1890)
Susan was born in Battersea, Surrey. She was the seventh child of Alfred, a carpenter and Ann (née Charter) Brocket from Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire. She married Joseph Turner Bailey in 1878, by licence at Cambridge Register Office, when she was 21. In 1881 the couple were living at 70 Kingston Street, Cambridge.
When she died at the age of 33, she and Joseph were living at The Earl of Beaconsfield, 133 Mill Road, Cambridge.
Susan’s husband was buried in an unmarked grave in the parish area of St Andrew the Great. We do not know why this was but his story appears here.
