Monument
This badly broken cross, in the parish of St Paul, is located roughly 8 rows east of the central path and about 40 plots north of the south path. Two tiers from the plinth and other loose stones are all that now remain of the monument. The carved inscriptions are partially buried and badly eroded. We used the grave register to help identify this monument. We know from the grave register

Christina Elizabeth Barker née Shaw (1858 – 1893)
Christina was the daughter of warehouse porter William and his wife Elizabeth Shaw and was baptised at St Paul’s church on May 30th 1858. In 1861 she was living with her parents in Queen St and married, college servant, William Barker on August 4th 1881.
She died at 11 Panton St aged 35
Her parents William (1836 – 1873) and Elizabeth (1832 -1906) are buried a few plots to the south in an unmarked grave.
Thomas Basil Shaw (1881 – 8 November 1901) the announcement in the paper gave November 5th as date of death
Thomas was the son of railway porter Thomas and Letty (née Smith). Aged 19 he was living at 19 Queen Street with his uncle James William Shaw and working as a van porter. He died at Queen Street aged 20.
