In Loving Remembrance of JOHN SIMS

John Sims (12 March 1830 – 7 November 1899)
John was born in Ely, and baptised at Haddenham on 22 September 1833. He was the son of John and Ann (née Cooper) Sims, and grew up on Corn Exchange Street. His father was the curator of the School of Anatomy for 36 years and John worked as a butcher throughout his life. He married Sarah Argent (1836-) on 26 February 1862 at St Mary’s Church, Newmarket and the couple had at least four children: Emma Louisa (1867-), William (1871-), John (1874-) and Sarah Alice (1875-1964).
In 1871 the family were living in Cheveley, Newmarket, and in 1881 at Granby House, Newmarket. They then moved to Cambridge and in 1891 were at 45 Norfolk Street. John died at 35 King Street aged 69 years.
Sarah Sims died in Lewisham in 1912.
