Mary Grace Smith (23 January 1908 – 21 April 1940)
Mary was the daughter of Alfred and Mary and was born in Stretham, a village between Cambridge and Ely. She worked as a nurse(state registered nurse) and midwife (state certified midwife) and in 1939 was living with her parents at 65 Argyle Street. She died at her parents home aged 32 years old.
Mary Elizabeth Smith (7 October 1877 – 19 June 1951)
Mary was born in Downham, Cambridgeshire and married Alfred Smith c.1905. They had at least three children: Alfred Francis, Mary Grace and Marjorie Elizabeth (1917-1991). Alfred worked as a railway platelayer and in 1911 the family were living in Waterbeach. They later moved to live at 65 Argyle Street and Mary died at Addenbrookes Hospital aged 73 years.
Alfred Smith (1 April 1881 – 4 September 1959)
Alfred was born in Haddenham and was the son of shepherd Alfred, and his wife Hannah. His father died in 1886 and Hannah then married farmer John Fairchild later the same year. Alfred grew up at Chittering Farm in Stretham with his mother and stepfather and aged 20 was working on the farm (1901) before later working for Great Eastern Railway. After he was widowed he continued to live at 65 Argyle Street, but died at Addenbrookes Hospital.
