SARAH his wife died Feb. 28. 1896 aged 79 years & 10 months

And EDWARD JOSEPH son of above died June 12. 1853 aged 6 years 8 months and was buried in the churchyard of St George the Martyr Deal Kent.

Also EMMA SARAH STUBBINGS died  Jan 20. 1934.  Aged 85 years.

Edward Stubbings (c.1814 – 5 January 1849)

Edward married Sarah Whittall in Kent in 1844 and they had at least two children: Edward Joseph (1846-1853) and Emma Sarah (1848-1934) both of whom were born in Cambridge.  Edward  was buried at All Saints’ Church on 10 January 1849.

Sarah Stubbings  (née Whittall) (1816 – 28 February 1896)

Sarah was the daughter of Joseph and Mary and was baptised in Linton on 23 May 1816.  She married aged 28 years old and after being widowed returned to live in Deal, Kent (1851/1861) where her father was a publican who ran the Fleur De Lys pub on Union Row. After Joseph’s death in 1863 she moved to live with daughter Emma at Park Street in Deal (1871) and later in Cheltenham (at least 1881 onwards). She was described on census records as being an annuitant and a railway share holder, and died at Walmer Lawn, Montpellier Villas in Cheltenham in 1896.

Edward Joseph Stubbings (October 1846 – 12 June 1853)

Edward was baptised at All Saints’ Church on 25 October 1846 and died in Deal aged 6 years old.

Emma Sarah Stubbings (1848 – 20 January 1934)

Emma was baptised at All Saints’ Church on 2 July 1848. In 1871 Emma was working as a governess, but by 1881 had moved to live in Cheltenham were she was a secretary at Cheltenham Ladies’ College.  It is now known when she returned to live in Cambridge, but died at 77 Hartington Grove.
