Joseph Tucker (23 January 1849 – 6 November 1908)
Joseph was born in Norwich and baptised there on 4 March 1849. He was the son of gardener Joseph Tucker and dressmaker Charlotte (née Bullock). Aged 22 he was living with his parents at City Road, Norwich and working as a groom/gardener. Joseph married Caroline Rivett on 21 April 1875 at All Saints’ Church, Norwich, and they had four children: Edith (1875-1953), Jessie Esther (1878-1931), Joseph (1881-1961) and Edward (1884-1919). In 1881 the family were living at 20 City Road, Norwich and Joseph was working as a railway police officer for Great Eastern Railway. By 1891 he had been promoted to the rank of sergeant. He was later promoted to Police Inspector and by 1896 the famly had moved to live at 155 Gwydir Street. Joseph died at home aged 59 years old.
Caroline Tucker (née Rivett) (18 February 1850 – 30 August 1937)
Caroline was born in Brook, a village seven miles south of Norwich and was the daughter of gardener Charles Rivett and Sarah. Caroline worked as a dressmaker and after she was widowed she went to live at 19 Abbey Road with daughter Edith where she ran a Lodging House (1911). They later lived at 1 Hertford Street (at least 1919-1931) and 30 St. Barnabas Road (1933).
Edith Tucker (19 March 1875 – 4 December 1953)
Edith was born in Norfolk and baptised on 26 April 1875. In 1891 she was 16 years old and working as a pupil teacher. Edith worked as an elementary school teacher , then assitant school mistress and lived with her mother. By 1939 she had retired and was living at 11 Willis Road . She remained at Willis Road until at least 1952 and then moved 115 Canfield Gardens in Hampstead to live with her niece Edith Hayes. Edith died at Paddington Hospital aged78 years old.
