In Affectionate Memory of
Rev ARTHUR ROBERT WARD MA
born Dec 29 1829 died Sep 25 1884
Arthur Robert Ward (1829-1884)
Arthur was the vicar of St Clement’s church. He died at 45 Jesus Lane at the age of 54. He was born in Bloomsbury, London, the son of William and [Frances] Ward. In 1851 he was a student at St John’s College, Cambridge and lodging with the Rutherfords at 10 Bridge Street. Sarah Rutherford was a hosier and haberdasher so his lodging may have been above the shop. During his time at college he became a well known cricketer and has an entry on Wikipedia under Arthur Ward (cricketer). He never married.
