Edward William Woollard (24 September 1873 – 5 March 1940)
Edward was the son of Samuel and Mary Ann and grew up at 140a Gwydir Street. His father was a tailor and aged 17 Edward was working as a tailor’s apprentice. He married Sarah Bowyer in 1900 and they had seven children: Albert Edward (1900-2003), Doris (1901-1991), Bertram Alfred (1903-1968), Ethel Mildred (1904-2001), Gladys (1906-), Edward William (1909-1986) and one further child who died as an infant.
The family lived at Edward’s childhood home at 140a Gwydir Street and he worked as a tailor from home. By 1939 daughters only daughters Doris and Ethel were living at home with Edward and Sarah and he was decribed on the records as an incapacitated journeyman tailor. He died at Gwydir Street aged 66 years old.
Sarah Ann Woollard (née Bowyer) (7 May 1871 – 27 March 1960)
Sarah was born in Somersham, nine miles outside Huntingdon and was the daughter of agricultural labourer William and May. In 1891 she was working as a general servant in Ramsey, before marrying Edward Woollard when she was 28 years old. Sarah died at 140a Gwydir Street aged 88 years old.
