Monument
Located a few metres from the east west path from the centre circle and roughly six metres from the west path. Some of the metal lettering is missing and the south kerb has fallen.

Harriet Emma Wright (née Smith) (1855 – 10 April 1916)

Harriet was the daughter of George and Emma Smith.  George Smith was a porter and the family lived at 1 Downing Court, when Harriet was a child.  Her father had died by the time she was 15 years old,  and she then lived with her siblings and  widowed mother who was working as a mangle woman.  They later moved to 1 Hosier Court (1881).  Emma was a college servant, and Harriet was working at home doing domestic duties at that time.  She married Daniel Wright in 1885.  The couple had two daughters: Grace Susannah (1886-1958) and Hilda (1888-).

Daniel worked as a fireman for the Great Eastern Railway (G.E.R) and the couple lived at 105 Gwydir Street (c.1888-1890) before moving to Argyle Street (1891).  In between at least 1901 and 1911 the family living in St Ives, between Cambridge and Huntingdon. By the time she died aged 60 years old Harriet was living at 23 Belgrave Road.

Daniel Thomas Henry Wright (c.1857 – 8 February 1937)

Daniel was the son of Daniel and Susannah Wright.  He was baptised at St Paul’s Church on 31 May 1857.  His father was a blacksmith and he grew up at 6 Mill Road.  Susannah Wright worked as a dressmaker.  He married Harriet Smith when he was 28 years old.

After he was widowed he continued to live at 23 Belgrave Road until at least 1920, and then moved to live at 47 Brookfields with his daughter Grace.  He died at Brookfields aged 80 years old.
