Alfred Thurlow Reed (1871-1936)

Alfred was born in 1871 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.  He was baptised on 23 November 1871 in the Primitive Methodist Church, Cambridge.  He was one of at least nine children born to Henry Reed (c.1835-1905) and Mary Ann Reed (née Thurlow) (c.1834-1918).  In 1881 the family were living at 178 East Road, Cambridge.  In 1891 the family were living at 51 Kingston Street, Cambridge.  Alfred was still living at home and he was working as a grocer’s assistant.  He married Ada Hannah Dean (1873-1947) in 1900 in Cambridge.  They had a son: Herbert Thomas (1903-1971).  In 1901 the couple were living in Grove Road, Hitchin, Hertfordshire.  In 1911 the family were living at 69 Grove Road.  Alfred was working as a grocer traveller.  Alfred died on 12 March 1936 in Cambridge.

Two of Alfred’s brothers were also buried in this cemetery: James John Thurlow Reed (1856-1933); and Joseph Thurlow Reed (1869-1953)

Ada Hannah Reed (née Dean) (1873-1947)

Ada was born in 1873 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.  She was the daughter of Thomas Dean (1846-1908) and Mary Ann Dean (née Lewis) (c.1850-1921).  In 1891 the family were living at 20 Sturton Street, Cambridge.  Ada was still living at home but she was working as a dressmaker.  Ada married Alfred Thurlow Reed (1871-1936) in 1900 in Cambridge.  She died on 11 December 1947 in Cambridge.
