Charles James William Bailey (c.October 1850 – 22 April 1879)

Known as William, he was born in Cheveley, near Newmarket and was the illegitimate son of Eliza Bailey.  He grew up with his grandparents Charles and Sarah Bailey, mother and aunts and uncles in Cheveley, where his grandfather was a cordwainer (1851). By 1861 Charles  Bailey was the village post master, and William was living with him at the Post Office on the High Street.  William later worked as a drayman, and aged 21 was lodging in Stratford, Essex. He died  at Gwydir Street, Cambridge and his funeral was held on 25 April 1879.
