By 1911 Alice was running a University Lodging House from Emmanuel Road, and Albert was working for a builder as a painter. The couple had three children: Gertrude Maggie (1888-1965), Albert Thomas (1890-1957) and a child who died as an infant. She was widowed at the age of 50, and by 1939 was living in Woverton, near Milton Keynes with daughter Gertrude.
