Herbert Doggett (c.July 1880 – 19 September 1930)

Herbert was born in Oakington but grew up at Mill Lane, Cambridge. He was the youngest son of Isaac and Clara (née Smith) and his father worked as a platelayer’s labourer. Clara Doggett died in  1884 and Isaac married for a second time to  Annie in 1886. The family lived at 30 Great Eastern Street (1891/1901) and after school Herbert worked as a railway signalman. He married Kate Bainbridge in 1905 and they had three children: Herbert Ronald (1906-1939), Gwenneth Kate (1910-1995) and Vera Kathleen (1920-1989). They lived at 16 Stockwell Street (1911) and then 18 Romsey Terrace.   Herbert continued to work for G.E.R. (Great Eastern Railway) and died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital aged 50 years old.

Kate Elizabeth Doggett (née Bainbridge) (11 May 1881 – 15 March 1959)

Kate was the eldest  daughter of Alfred and Emma (née Bidwell) Bainbridge and grew up at 185 Gwydir Street. Her father was a tailor and aged 19 (1901) Kate was working as a tailoress. After she was widowed she lived at Romsey Terrace (until at least 1937) and then at 35 Woodlark Road with her sisters Margaret and Mabel  (1939 onwards).
