George Bareford (1852 – 21 February 1880)
George was born in Swaffham Bulbeck and was the son of John and Sarah Bareford. John worked as an agricultural labourer and aged 17 George was also working as one. He married Ursula Richardson (1856-1925) on 22 August 1877 in Feltwell, Norfolk and by the time he married was living in Cambridge and working as a railway servant. The couple had three children, all of whom were born in Cambridge: Ethel Maud (1877-1958), Frederick George (1878-1958) and Lilian (1880-1949). George died aged 28 years old and his youngest child Lilian was born the following day.
In 1881 Ursula was living at 19 Hooper Street with the three children and her sister Rose and worked as a ‘mangler’. She subsequently married railway worker Robert Howell in October 1888 and eventually moved to Doncaster where she died aged 68 years old.
