Monument
This set of kerbstones, located in the parish of Andrew the Less, lies west of the central path about 30 metres from the Norfolk St gate. The carved inscriptions are badly eroded and barely legible. Another monument has fallen over part of the grave set.

Henry William Goymer (1855 – 29 September 1886)
Henry was born in Manningtree, Essex and was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth. He grew up in Colchester and married Frances Butler in Cambridge in 1878. Henry worked on the railway and by 1880 the family were living in Peterborough. They had at least three children: Henry H (1879-), Carrie Eliza (1882-1969) and Ernest William (1883-1952). Henry died aged 31 years old, and is believed to have been buried in Peterborough.
Thomas James Butler (1862 – 19 December 1923)
Thomas was the brother of Frances Goymer (née Butler). He was born in Cambridge and married Mary Ann Unwin (1853-1891) in 1881. They had two sons: Thomas James (1882-) and Albert Edward (1887-1971). In 1891 the family were living at 81 Norfolk Street, and Thomas was working as a boiler maker’s assistant, for Great Eastern Railway. He was widowed in 1891 and married for a second time in 1893 to Mary Ann Carrington (1853-). Thomas and Mary lived at 76 Sturton Street, where he died aged 61 years old.
Thomas’ infant grandson Percy Butler is also buried at Mill Road Cemetery.
Eliza Frances (Frances) Goymer (née Butler) (1856 – 6 March 1938)
Frances was the daughter of James and Eliza Henley (née Paxman) Butler. Her mother died when she was a young child and aged 14 she was living with her maternal grandmother and uncle and 1 James Court. Meanwhile her widowed father was an ‘inmate’ of the Mill Road Workhouse (1871). She married when she was 22 years old and after she was widowed returned to live at 65 York Street, working as a laundress (1891). She later lived at 35 Gwydir Street (at least 1901 onwards) with her cousin William Paxman and son Henry . Frances died aged 82 years old.
Frank Percy Bement (6 July 1877 – 1 January 1945)
Frank was born in Cambridge and baptised in the Primitive Methodist Chapel on 28 October 1877. He was the son of bootmaker James and Betsy Bement and grew up at Norfolk Street. In 1911 he was living with his widowed mother at 18 Clare Street – both were college workers, and Frank was a kitchen clerk. He married Carrie Eliza Goymer (1882-1969) on 29 September 1914 at St. Matthew’s church. The couple continued to live at 18 Clare Street, and by 1939 Frank was running a window cleaning company. He died at home aged 67 years old and his funeral took place on 5 January 1945.
Carrie Bement died at Clare Street in March 1969.
