Elizabeth Bennett (1809 – 25 April 1849)
Elizabeth was the daughter of William (1780-1848) and Martha (née Markham) (1769-1821), sister of John and was baptised at St. Andrew the Great Church on 1 October 1809. Her father was a college servant at Christ’s College and Elizabeth died aged 39 years old. Her funeral was held on 29 April 1849.
Martha Bennett (1802 – 19 October 1883)
Martha was baptised on 24 June 1803 at St. Andrew the Great church and worked as a college laundress. She lived at 7 Christ’s Lane with her neice Emma Saul, Emma was a dressmaker, but later assisted Martha with the laundry business. The pair seem to have been very industrious as they also employed a domestic servant. Martha died in Cambridge aged 81 years old.
Emma Saul (c.1837 – 1900)
Little is known of Emma’s life. She was born in Cambridge, but it is not known who her parents were. She continued to live at Christ’s Pieces after Martha’s death and died there aged 73 years old.
