William Bennett (c.1800 – 6 October 1869)

William was the son of William and Martha (née Markham) Bennett and was baptised on 2 January 1801 at St. Andrew the Great Church. He married Frances Robinson on 6 August 1826 at St. Mary’s Church  and the couple had at least six children: William Henry (1827-1912), Edwin (1828-), Robert (1834-1861), Sarah Elizabeth (1835-), Rev. Trimer (1838-1925) and Mary Ann (1840-1912).  They lived at Barber’s Court on King Street and William worked as a college servant.  William died aged 69 years old.

Frances Waters Bennett (née Robinson) (c.1802 – 13 October 1868)

Frances was the daughter of Trimer and Elizabeth (née German) Robinson.  She died at home aged 66 years old.

Mary Ann Bennett  (September 1840 – 30 March 1912)

Mary Ann was the youngest child of William and Frances.   Aged 20 she was living at Sunderland Terrace, Marylebone and was in service to Elizabeth Battiscombe.  By 1871 she had returned to Cambridge and was a servant  in the household of Charles and Anna Maria Babbington.  Charles was Professor of Botany at Cambridge University and a landowner and Mary Ann remained in service to the Babbington’s until at least 1911.  They lived at 5 Brookside, and Mary was described as a housemaid (1871)  parlourmaid (1881/1891/1901) and then housekeeper (1911).  She died aged 71 years old.
