Monument
This headstone stands on the south eastern boundary of the parish of St Andrew the Less. just west of the east path and 2 rows north of the path that runs east from the centre circle. It is badly weathered and only partially legible.

Robert Bolton (1821-1885)
Robert was born and grew up in Ipswich. He became a journeyman sawyer and saw sharpener. He married Margaret Palmer from Wisbech in 1848 and they 2 sons Thomas Joseph Barker (1849) Robert Marcus Palmer (1850 -1855)
By 1881 Robert had managed to buy a threshing machine and presumably did contract work.
It is not known what brought Robert & Margaret to Cambridge but they were living at 65 Fitzroy St when Robert died in 1885 at the age of 64.. He was buried on 9 March 1885.
Margaret Bolton née Palmer (1819 – 1897)
Margaret was born in Wisbech to tailor John Palmer and his wife Sarah. She was baptised at St Peter’s church on November 2nd 1819.
A Margaret Palmer was living at 25 South St in Cambridge in 1841. She was working as a needle woman. In 1891 she was living at 13 Fitzroy St with 2 of her grandchildren, William & Olive. She was “living on her own means”
When she died 6 years later she was living at 16 Eden St.
