Eliza Bowers  (née Clark) (c.1844 – 10 November 1905)

Eliza was born in Cambridge and married Robert Clark (possibly a cousin) (1844-1876) in 1864. They lived at 6 Driver’s Court, Coronation Street and had at least four daughters:  Mary Louisa (1865-1946), Emily JAne (1870-1937), Alice Eliza (1872-1966) and Julia Ann (1876-1903). Robert was a labourier but died in 1876 aged 32 years old. Eliza married for a second time in 1878 to George Bowers and they had two children: Arthur Edward (1886-1976) and another child who died as a child.  George worked as a brewer’s labourer and later as a railway engine fitter and the family lived at 29 York Street. Eliza died at home aged 61 years old.

Samson George (known as George) Bowers (1849 – 2 June 1912)

George was born in Horseheath, Cambridgeshire and baptised there on 28 October 1849. He was the son of William and Frances (Fanny) (née Lindell)  and grew up at Church Street, Horseheath.  William Bowers was an agricultural labourer and aged 11 George was working as the same (1861). After his father’s death in 1870 he lived with his widowed mother  before marrying widow Eliza Clark when he was 29 years old. After Eliza died he lived alone at 29 York Stret (1911) but died at Sturton Street aged 63 years old.
