Eliza Taylor (c.1819 – 19 July 1887)
Eliza was the eldest daughter of merchant Joseph Taylor and Elizabeth (née Clipsham). She was born in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, but the family had moved to Eden Walk Cambridge by at least 1822. In 1841 Eliza was working as a dressmaker and living with her widowed mother and five siblings at 10 Coronation Street. She continued to live with her sisters at 63 Burleigh Street (at least 1851-1871) and worked as a dressmaker/straw bonnet maker. The sisters later moved to 14 Milford Street where Eliza died. Her funeral was held on 22 July.
Mary Ann Taylor (1 March 1834 – 29 October 1896)
Mary lived with her sisters and worked as a ‘plain needle woman’ (1851), nursemaid (1861) and dressmaker (1891). Mary died at Milford Street and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 2 November 1896.
Martha Taylor (13 February 1829 – 16 December 1907)
Martha worked as a dressmaker and died at Milford Street aged 78 years old (although the grave monument states 77 years). Her birth date was registered as being 13 February 1829 in the Dr. William’s Library of Protestant Dissenters.
Jane Cook (née Taylor) (23 December 1830 – 28 November 1908)
Jane was born at Eden Walk and worked as a milliner (1861) and straw bonnet maker (1871). She lived with her sisters at Burleigh Street and married William Edward Cook(1834 – 1888) on 27 February 1872 at the Zion Chapel. William was a builder from Loughton and the couple lived at the Downings, Loughton. She was widowed in March 1888 and returned to Cambridge to live at Milford Street where she worked as a dressmaker. She died at home and her funeral was held on 4 December. Similarly it is thought she was 77 years old when she died, not 76 using the birth date in the Dr. William’s Library.
