This well preserved headstone, in the parish area of St Paul, is located three rows east of the western path.

Frederick Cooper (1843 – 27 May 1915)

Frederick was born in Little Shelford and baptised there on 1 October 1843. He was the son of gardener James and Ann and grew up at Gothic Street (1851/1861). Aged 16 he was working as an errand boy, but was later a gardener like his father. He married Elizabeth Elbourne in Stapleford in 1871 and they had five children: Bertha Elizabeth, Ernest Edwin, Percy George (1874-1947), Blanche (1876-1962) and Minnie. The family lived at 9 Bentinck Street (1871 to at least 1891) and then 66 Tenison Road (at least 1901 onwards). By 1911 Frederick was described as a jobbing gardener and died at home.

Elizabeth Cooper (née Elbourne) (1844 – 8 February 1926)

Elizabeth was born in Stapleford to Charles and Rachel. She grew up in the village where her father was a butcher and married Frederick Cooper when she was c.26 years old. She died aged 81 years old.

Bertha Elizabeth Cooper (1872 – 22 August 1906)

Bertha was the eldest daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth. She attended the Cambridge Science Classes and won a prize for Physiography in January 1891. She is believed to have died at Tenison Road aged 34.

Ernest Edwin Cooper (11 April 1874 – 23 August 1889)

Ernest was baptised in Stapleford on 17 May 1874 and died at 9 Bentinck Street.

Minnie Cooper (1878 – 19 February 1922)

Minnie was the youngest child of Frederick and Elizabeth.  Aged 33 she was living at home and working as a grocer’s clerk.
