Heber Cornwell (14 January 1866 – 21 September 1932)

Heber was born in Lode, the son of John and Mary Anne (née Rayment). He grew up on Lode Fen, where his father farmed 20 acres, employing 3 people. By 1881 the family had moved to live at 42 Mill Road, and Heber was working as a general labourer. He married Lucy Wanfor in 1889 and they had eleven children: George (1890-1892), Horace (1891-1966), George (1893-1956), Dorothy Irene (1894-1976), Stanley (1896-1957), Kathleen Margaret (1897-1967), Bertram (1899-1981),  Victor (1903-1905), Beulah Bessie (1905-1912), Flora May (1906-2000) and Roy (1908-1967) . He worked as a carpenter/joiner and the family lived at Hertford Street (1891), 49 Union Terrace (1901) and 69 Mill Road (at least 1911 onwards). Heber died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital aged 66 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 24 September.

Lucy Cornwell (née Wanfor) (3 September 1865 – 28 June 1949)

Lucy was the daughter of Ebenezer and Lucy and grew up on Histon Road where her father was a tailor (1871). By 1881 the family were living on Benson Street, off Huntingdon Road and Lucy was a dressmaker. After she was widowed Lucy continued to live at 69 Mill Road and died at home aged 83 years old. Her funeral took place on 1 July 1949.

George Cornwell (1890- 8 May 1892)

George was the eldest son of Heber and Lucy and died at Mill Road aged 2 years old. His funeral took place on 12 May.

Victor Cornwell (1903 – February 1905)

Victor died at 126 Gwydir Street aged 17 months old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 1 March 1905.

Beulah Bessie Cornwell (1905 – April 1912)

Known as Bessie, she died aged 7 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 27 April 1912.
