John Bishop Coxall (1872 – January 1898)
John was born in Haslingfield and was baptised there on 6 October 1872. He was the son of William and Emma Coxall and died at 39 St Andrew Street aged 25 years old. John was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 19 January.
Emma Stocker (née Bishop) (21 February 1835 – 3 May 1907)
Emma was born in Haslingfield and was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Bishop. She was baptised in the village on 24 May 1835 and aged 15 was working as a servant for the Metcalf family at 3 Brandon Row. Emma married William Coxall (1834-1876) in Haslingfield in 1853 and they had at least eleven children: Naomi (1857-1885), Robert (1858-1888), Elizabeth (1861-1881), Sarah Anne (1863-1878), Francis William (1865-1930), Phoebe Jane (1868-1869), Phoebe Jane (1870-1916), Samuel (1871-), John Bishop, William James (1874-) and Emma (1876-1876). William was an agricultural labourer, later a coprolite labourer and the family lived at Church End, Haslingfield.
Emma was widowed in 1876, when William died aged 42 years old, and she then moved to live at 22 Adam and Eve Street. In 1881 Emma was living there with three of her children and was working as a laundress. She married widower James Stocker (1836-1898) in 1883. James’ first wife Mary Ann had died in 1879, and the couple lived at 39 St. Andrew Street, where James was a coach smith (1891). Emma was widowed for a second time in October 1898 and lived at 21 Union Terrace (later Mawson Road) (at least 1901 onwards). Mary died at home and her funeral was held on 8 May.
