Alexander Gordon Mcdonald (Gordon) Cranfield (7 June 1915 – 12 October 1984)

Gordon was the son of Alexander (Alex) and Ada Emily (née Allin) Cranfield and was born in Bedford.  Ada was the daughter of local business owner Philip Allin and married watchmaker Alex Cranfield in 1911.  Gordon is believed to have been the only child of the marriage, and the couple appear to have lived seperate lives with Ada living in Cambridge and managing an electrical goods shop, and Alex lived in King’s Lynn and worked as a tool maker.

Gordon served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Armoured Corps (1945) and married Olive Lena Woods (1902-) in Sturminster, Dorset in 1940.  The couple had at least one son: Peter and lived with his mother at Grove Lodge, Huntingdon Road  (at least 1946-1948) and 20 Gilbert Close (1949 – to at least 1965). It is not known when Olive died, but he married for a second time in 1981 to twice widowed Edna Joyce Hamburgh (née Summerfield) and was living at 15 Hawkins Road when he died aged 69 years old.
