Charles Stafford Cunnington (1859 – 24 January 1904)
Charles was the youngest son of John and Eleanor [nee Stafford] Cunnington. He was born and grew up at Kings Cliffe in Northampton, where his father was a builder and publican. His father died in 1875 when Charles was 16 years old, and in 1881 he was still in Kings Cliffe boarding and working as a builder and wheelwright.
He married Mary Jane Callon in Oundle on 8th April 1885 and by 1888 they were living in Cambridge – at 38 Perowne Street. Charles worked as a joiner and carpenter. Mary and Charles had four children: Ethel Mary [1886-1891], Percy Charles Stafford [1888-1890], Elsie Irene [1892-1979] and Doris Lucy [1898-1924]
Charles died at 49 Kingston Street in January 1904 – he was 45 years old.
Percy Charles Stafford Cunnington (1888 – 30 November 1890)
Percy was the only son of Charles and Mary Cunnington. He died age 2 years old at 38 Perowne Street.
Ethel Mary Cunnington (1886 – 22 January 1891)
Ethel was the eldest child of Charles and Mary Cunnington – she died aged 4 years old, only six weeks after her brother. At that time Charles and Mary only had the two children, and must have been truly heartbroken for them to have died so close together.
Mary Jane Cunnington moved away from Cambridge and was living in Victoria Promenade in Northampton with her two remaining daughters in 1911. In 1939 she was living alone in Northampton. She died in 1944, having outlived her husband and three of her four children.
