John Fallowes (1844 – 23 May 1902)

John was born in Stowupland, Suffolk and was the son of Abraham and Rachel Fallowes. His father worked for a flour miller as a carter, and in 1861 the family were living at Regent Street, Stowmarket.  Aged 16, John was training to be a carpenter and married  Mary Ann Hayward (1841-1923) in 1866. The couple are thought to have had three children: Frederick William (1867-), Albert Edward (1868-1932) and Elizabeth Mary (1870-1878). He later worked as a railway porter, and the family lived briefly in Cambridge (at least 1868-1870). In 1871 they were living  in Saffron Walden, before returning to live at 107 Gwydir Street, Cambridge (at least 1878 onwards). In 1901 he was working as a railway guard and died at home aged 58 years old. His funeral was held on 28 May 1902.

His widow continued to live at Gwydir Street  (1911) and died in Cambridge in the Summer of 1923 aged 82 years old.
