Frederick Thomas Elbourn (1844 – 29 January 1902)
Fred, as he was known was born in Little Shelford, the illegimate child of Eliza Elbourn (1820-1900). He was baptised in Little Shelford on 26 May 1844 and in October 1846 Eliza married farm labourer William Dare (1891-1895). William and Eliza had a further five sons together and the family lived in Little Shelford.
Fred married Mary Ann Brazier at Christ Church, Cambridge in 25 September 1862 and they had thirteen children: Sarah Ann Emma (1863-1939), John William (1866-1889), Eliza Melinda (1869-1948), Private William Francis (1872-1916), Robert Edward (1874-1948), Alice Rachel (1877-1877), Alice Rachel (1880-1880), Alice Rachel (1880-1925), Ellen Maria (known as Nellie) (1883-1918), Frederick Thomas (1886-1930), Mary Ann Elizabeth (1886-1959) and Florence Esther (1888-1970). Fred worked as a coprolite/fossil digger and the family lived at 82 New Street (1871). He later was described as a labourer and they lived ‘in the fields’ (1881), before moving to Coldham’s Lane (at least 1891 onwards).
He died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital aged 58 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 3 February.
Mary Ann Elizabeth Elbourn (née Brazier) (1846 – 26 October 1922)

Mary Ann was born also born in Little Shelford, the daughter of labourer Thomas (1809-1891) and Sarah Susannah (née Bruce) (1825-1905). She grew up on New Street, Cambridge (1851) before marrying Fred Elbourn.
After she was widowed she continued to live at 3 Coldham’s Lane with daughters Nellie and Florence (1911) and various family members either lived with her or nearby. She died at home after a ‘long and painful illness’ aged 77 years old and was said to have been ‘well known and respected by all in whom she came in contact’.
There are believed to be three other family members buried in the same grave.
Alice Rachel Elbourn (1877 – September 1877)
Alice died aged 8 months old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 10 September 1877.
Alice Rachel Elbourn (1880 – August 1880)
Alice died at Coldham’s Lane aged 7 months old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 14 August 1880.
John William Elbourn (1866 – September 1889)
John died in Sawston aged 23 years and was buried in Mill Road Cemetery on 25 September 1889.
Thomas and Sarah Brazier ( Mary Ann’s parents) are also buried in the St. Andrew the Less area of Mill Road Cemetery, but their grave has not yet been discovered. Thomas Brazier died aged 88 years at 154 Newmarket Road after a fall at home. He died as a result of shock, inflamation and congestion of the lungs from the fall on 17 July 1891 and was buried three days later. Sarah Brazier went to live at 3 Coldham’s Lane after she was widowed with Mary Ann, and died there in March 1905 aged 80 years old. Her funeral was held on 25 March 1905.
Mary Ann’s sister in law Susan Brazier (née Turner) (1849-1898) is buried in the St Andrew the Less area of Mill Road Cemetery, but her grave has also not yet been disovered. Her funeral was held on 2 July 1898.
