Elizabeth Gravestocks (née Avey) (c.1777 – 12 July 1869)
Elizabeth was born in Coton, just outside Cambridge and married James Gravestocks (also sometimes spelt Gravestock) at St. Mary the Great Church on 6 September 1815. They had at least one child: Sarah (1818-1869). It is thought she was widowed in 1846. By 1861 Elizabeth was living at 10 Falcon Yard, and was described as a bed makers help. She died aged 92 years.
Henry (Harry) Jarvis (1851 – 21 September 1879)
Harry was the son of George and Sarah Jarvis and Elizabeth’s grandson. He was baptised at St. Andrew the Great on 2 February 1851 and grew up at Falcon Yard, where his father was a bricklayer/builder. In 1871 he was lodging with Lucy Avey at 22 Falcon Yard – Lucy was presumably a relative on his maternal side. The census of that year marked him as an ‘imbecile’ and of no occupation. He died aged 28 years old.
Martha Gates née Jarvis (Oct 1829 – 21 December 1900)
Martha was the daughter of Edward, a bricklayer, & his wife Mary. She was born in Falcon Yard, Cambridge and seems to have been baptised twice once in the church of Mary the Great and again when she was 7 years old in the church of St Andrew the Great. On the 1841 census appears to be living with other people who may have been relations. The Gravestocks are living in the same block and her father is also still in Falcon Yard but no record of her mother. She married James Gates possibly in London and In 1871 she and James were living in Bethnal Green with 2 daughters Rebecca (c 1850) and Emma (c 1856). James was listed as a traveller. In 1881 they were living in a caravan in Putney, with several nieces & nephews and 2 servants. James died before the next census and Martha returned to Cambridge. In 1891 she was living at 21 Fitzroy Street, working as a confectioner/fruiterer. She died aged 71 years.
Her brother James is buried nearby
