This headstone, in the parish area of St Andrew the Less, is located close to the Norfolk Street entrance. Most of the inscription is now illegible but the parish register was used to confirm that it was James who died in 1891.

Eliza Jarvis (née Rabey) (c 1823 – 23 September 1883)
Eliza was born in the parish of St Andrew the Less, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Rabey. She was baptised on 4 May 1823, and after her father died in 1834 lived with her mother and younger brother John at 1 Reeves Buildings, Hills Road where Elizabeth Rabey worked as a laundress. Eliza married bricklayer James Jarvis at the church of St Andrew the Less on 3rd April 1845 and they set up home in Russell Street, Cambridge. They had nine children: Elizabeth (1846-1906), Eliza (1848- ), James (1850-1926), Martha (known as Pattie)(1852-1909), George Edward (1854-1905), Esther (1856-1926), Henry (1858-1939), Sarah Anne (known as Annie) (1860-1915) and William Frederick (1863-1866). The family lived at 63 Russell Street (1861) and 69 Russell Street (at least 1871 to 1881). By 1871 James was described as a builder, and Eliza was working as a laundress. The couple moved to live at 154 Gwydir Street, where Eliza died aged 60 years old. Her funeral was held on 27 September.
James Jarvis (c.1823 – 4 January 1891)
James was the son of Edward, a bricklayer and Mary. He was baptised in the church of St Mary the Great on July 25th 1824 and was brought up in Falcon Yard, Cambridge. He became a bricklayer like his father. He died at Gywdir Street and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 7 January 1891.

Elizabeth Jarvis (1846 – 30 November 1906)
Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of James and Eliza and was baptised at St. Paul’s Church on 5 April 1846. She lived at home with her parents until their deaths and helped her mother with the laundry business. She continued to live at 154 Gwydir Street and employed a live-in assistant to help in the business. Elizabeth died at home aged 60 years old.
